Thursday, February 12 (9 a.m.-10 a.m.)

Thursday, February 19 (9 a.m.-10 a.m.)

HANDS ON FUN WITH TEMPERATURE..WE MADE JUICE POPS IN CLASS!

We used the thermometers to read a few temperatures while experimenting and discovered:

Classroom =  + 20 Celcius

A student’s body temp = +30 Celcius

Frozen Juice Concentrate = -15 Celcius

Juice Concentrate mixed with tap water = +2 celcius

Juice Pop before placing in freezer (unfrozen) = +10 Celcius

IMG_20141205_102018019Next, students took made an estimate of the amount of time it would take the juice pops to freeze in (-18 freezer temp):

12 people estimated that it will take 1 hour to freeze our pops!

7 people estimated that it will take 3 hours to freeze our pops!

The 7 students who guessed 3 HOURS, were correct!
